All of my Marblehead reviews start the same. Marblehead is like a wonderful little jewelry box. By foot, walking just a few blocks... By car, driving just a few miles... You can see and feel all of the jewlels. I'll preface further comments by saying...More

We happened upon a fantastic docent the day we visited Abbott Hall. His overview of the history was wonderfully interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend that anyone who visits Marblehead, stop by for a tour of this museum.

We spent an hour at the maritime museum. There is a great range of exhibits and an amazing amount of information about Marbleheads Naval History. The video of the USS Constitution arriving at Marblehead in 1997 was extremely moving. A fascinating exhibit. Can't believe it's...More

Abbott Hall is the heart of Marblehead and US Navy history. Don't miss it. The original "Spirit of '76" painting lives here, along with great information about the role of Marblehead sailors during the American Revolution.

The original painting of the Spirit of 1776 hangs in Abbot Hall. Also Marblehead is the birthplace of the American Navy.

We enjoyed the museum on the first and lower floors, seeing the original photography of the small destroyer named after Marblehead, and several antiques nautical items

It goes without saying that the giant painting titled The Spirit of 76 was very impressive. It is under glass now after a person felt the need to try to ruin it in an anti war protest, but thankfully a police officer on duty prevented...More

The Maritime exhibits were very interesting and the building itself with it's unique architecture was something to see. But, we stood in awe in front of The Sprit of '76. We have seen it hundreds of times in books and photos, but to stand right...More
