You can walk or wade there at low tide. Most people use a boat or kayak. It's busy and kind of a place to party on the weekends.

It's an adventure to slog across the mudflats to get to this island.... Pleasant, calm beach is good for a picnic, but beware of random poison ivy patches if you wander around the "highlands".

What a gem! Visited a little before low-tide and instead of waiting for the tide to fully go out we kayaked to the island. We had the place to ourselves and hiked the 3/4 mile of trail around the island. Some very nice ocean views...More

I think walking across the flats at low tide to access this island is a Marblehead "must do" for reasonably fit families. You can climb to the rocks and enjoy a view past Salem Harbor to the islands further off and see all the sailboats...More

This is a breathtaking island that can be accessed during low tide during the summer months. It is a great sit back and sun and splash in the water destination. It gives you a little time to explore the rocky coast and more.
