Saw Cirque de la Symphonie performance tonight with the Pops. Amazing circus performers that can push their bodies to do things that do not seem possible. We had great seats tonight because I called the box office while trying to pick good online tickets. Always...More

A visit to Tanglewood's Koussevitzky Music Shed fills a summer's evening with music and good cheer while all is enjoyed under the stars of a moonlit night in the Berkshire Mountains. There are few traditional musical events in New England that can match a night...More

Tanglewood is the heart of the summer arts scene in the Berkshires. The large property encompasses several concert venues and lovely grounds. The main venue is The Shed - an enormous open-sided structure with some 5000 seats. I am not a fan because of the...More

So beautiful here! We have been 3 times. Twice we saw the band Train in "The Shed". This last time it was for the "Wine & Food Classic". All 3 times we have enjoyed the lovely grounds and the entertainment. The views of the Berkshire...More

Yes indeed, it has been four great years at Tanglewood on Parade! An all day music extravaganza! Last year we had severe thunderstorms, but the rain held off for us on year four! Always a wonderful time here. The one thing I will mention is...More

What a nice spontaneous experience! I walked to Tanglewood from a nearby location, bought a $20 lawn seat to hear Yo-Yo Ma, and had a great time. Wish I'd known they were not selling wine; others brought bottles and picnics. The crown was quiet and...More

It is a beautiful summer place to go to enjoy classical music from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, you can do it from the inside as well as the lawn, with your own picnic

August this year in the Berkshires continues to be clear and cool weather - perfect for listening to extraordinary musical performances. While I am not well informed about classical music and can not explain the innuendos of the Bartok or the Bach Sonatas - I...More

We are going to Tanglewood for the first time (yay! Four Voices!) and we have seats in "The Shed" - I now think I read one cannot eat/drink there and we were planning a picnic. Can we picnic on the lawn before the performance? Is it tacky to bring a bottle of wine? Thanks for helping a Tanglewood newbie!

HI, Almost everyone has wine and a picnic dinner. Not sure about the shed
We will be visiting the area later in June and thought we would come to a concert. We've never been to Tanglewood. When I ordered lawn tickets online I was asked if we would like to order some boxed tote dinners (to eat during the show). The prices were very high for a sandwich/salad, cookie, chips and bottled water. Is there a cafeteria, snack bar or take-out restaurant on the grounds that we could buy our own (hot) food & take over with us for the show? We will be staying in a hotel & not really convenient to make our own picnic basket.

I do think there is a place where you can purchase food on the premises, but most people pack a picnic and bring it with them. You may purchase picnic basket meals from many restaurants in the area as well. I think all would... More
