During our trip through the Berkshires we stopped at The Mount. Others will tell the details of Edith Wharton, but it is all about the architecture and the grounds. The house was designed by Wharton and others, but it bears the imprint of someone who...More

A wonderful insight into the life of Edith Wharton. The guide to the house was excellent and a bonus was the beautiful grounds and the alfresco lunch we ate.

Fascinating history of the home and Edith Wharton. Beautiful. We did the self guided tour and probably learned almost as much because there is so much written. It is maintained beautifully and staff are lovely.

Beautiful property and fascinating history! Since the furnishings were replicas, we could sit, touch and wander. It's worth a trip.

Edith Wharton's magnificent home, the Mount, is an architectural gem. Built in the early 1900s, it has been completely restored to its former splendor. Be sure to tour the stables, the lush gardens and take the docent-led tour of the interior. Well worth your time.

Prolific author Edith Wharton's personal life comes alive touring her stunning personally designed residence. Be sure and take the provided guided tour. Strongly recommend a simple but generous and tasty sandwich on the outdoor balcony with lovely relaxed views.
