The grounds were well kept.the walk to the end of the backyard is quite a hike. Be prepared. We didn't get an inside tour. Sadly it was closed that day. Well worth the views and architecture. I would love to see the garden in full...More

Our tour guide was knowledgeable, and conducted the tour in the character of a maid from the 20s, which was a lot of fun.

We had wanted to see this estate for some time and went when they run their Christmas decorations and music program. It was overly crowded but the rooms were nicely decorated and the music was well done. However, the estate itself could use some repair...More

I only saw Castle Hill on the map when I decided to go thinking of great costal views. Not disappointed. The home of a family that found "gold" in building fancy bathrooms for the very wealthy is worth a visit. When I arrived a tour...More

Didn't appear to be open but the gate was open with no one at the little admission house so just took a drive up the big hill, enjoyed the view and the landscaping and drove back down. Would someday like to take an inside tour...More

Castle on the Hill isn't a castle, but a very nice stately home built by the Crane family (think porcelain for bathrooms). The grounds and house are immaculately well kept. It was pouring with rain the day we went, so we plan to go back...More

The grounds, gardens, and mansion are impeccably maintained. While not as grand or opulent as the Newport Mansions, the mansion is beautiful and grounds/gardens are some of the prettiest in New England!

yes, the hours posted are accurate. There are limited times and days to visit, but you can drive out to this place most days and drive through the estate grounds, get out and walk around or just go siteseeing as a hike.
