We went tubing here on President's Day and when we got there it was so crowded that I was worried it would be an unpleasant experience. Kudos to the staff who kept the lines at the top organized, helped riders stop and safely navigate the bottom, and replenished and distributed tubes. There are 6-7 tubing lanes. You can ride the... We've been coming here for six or seven years because we like the family atmosphere, the size of the mountain (not too big, not too small), and the reasonable prices. The trails are good greens and blues, but this is not the place if you're looking for serious black diamonds. This is the kind of place where skiers who learned... More

I have a 12-year-old and a nine-year-old. This was their first time skiing. I am not a skier. I was a little worried and intimidated about trying to do this. We did the first time a package which was $75 plus an additional $12 for the home. spending $174 for the two kids. The line was long but not too... More

It was our first time here and an hour and 15 minutes from home. When we arrived The tubing parking lot was all mud and hard to drive in. There was only a small ticket area which also served as a snack bar and had one young woman working both. Not a great idea on a holiday. There was nowhere... More

We first started coming to Butternut when we lived in Connecticut and our kids learnt to ski here. Having moved back to England we still come back, every other year as the skiing is good and we also love the area. Just had a good few days skiing on well groomed slopes. Staff are friendly and the mountain is well... More

Let me start with the positives, of which there are many - this is a great little family mountain. The staff is very helpful and just plain nice, always ready with a smile and a friendly greeting. I felt entirely comfortable having my 9 year old take a few runs by herself. Since the mountain isn't too large, it's not... More

We have not skied in many years so we took a lesson. Our instructor, John was wonderful. Great value with lift ticket, lesson and rental. Staff very nice. Mountain well groomed, with nice wide long green trails. Views of the Berkshires were beautiful. Looking forward to returning!

I was worried that because the mountain is small that the skiing would not be great. I was pleasantly surprised though. The runs are interesting and of decent length. Since there has not been much snow I was not sure how the conditions would be but they made snow and there were no bald spots. Overall I had a great... More

It was my first time on skis since I was a kid, my husband's first stime ever. We signed up for the "first time" ski package - and so glad we did. Brendan was our instructor, very patient and kind - he gave us the tools to use as we practised the day away. Everyone was very friendly, and being... More

I last wrote a review of Butternut some years ago and thought I'd update it. Butternut remains a very intermediate mountain with plenty of trails for beginners and even a few black diamonds . The snow making, grooming, and as a result snow cover are always unmatched. Butternut usually closes down around early April. Since skiing mostly on weekdays over... More
