This is a modern visitor center with lots of displays, as well as the usual gift shop and restrooms. From the Center there are numerous trails and we had a very enjoyable walk around the nearby lake where we saw lots of different wildlife.

Ample parking, no charge. Helpful rangers for our questions. Parked car and a 4 mile round-trip run on bike/foot trail to the Coast Guard Beach. Interesting displays.

Really nice visitor center with a top notch, very helpful staff. Spent some time chatting with the nice lady in the gift shop and got some excellent advice on where to see seals!

No - the ranger led program rents canoes. Other places DO rent kayaks (see responses). You need to call the Salt Pond Visitor Center to register first. They also provide the instruction about canoe safety, life vests... More
