Hiking at Fort Hill offers a variety of trails, all quite easy, and amazing views of Nauset Marsh and Cove. It's quiet, full of wildflowers and full of birds and butterflies (in July).

Someone commented dogs allowed on leash. Not true! Bobwhites! Nice hilly trail with spectacular views.

The house is interesting and recently painted. The guide, an army air Corp veteran was most knowledgeable, but defiantly do the loop hike from the parking lot. Open meadows and nice woodland.

Don't miss the short side-loop to the pavilion at Skiff Hill, where you can see a boulder with grooves used by Native Americans to sharpen their tools.

Although this is part of the National Park Service, there is no fee. As you enter you drive past the Captain Penniman House. Although it is usually closed, we found out too late there are occasional tours of the interior. Regardless, it is a very...More
