A FIVE STAR EXPERIENCE. Capt. Murphy is a national treasure and so is the Rebecca T. Ruark which is the oldest skipjack in the Chesapeake fleet. Our cruise was a wonderful experience and Capt. Murphy regaled us with tales (tall and otherwise) about skipjacks, oysters...More

So, why would there be 3 Terrible reviews at the same time that there are 77 Excellent reviews? For those of us who truly enjoyed our cruise with Captain Wade, it’s clear that some people (only a very few in this case) are not able...More

From beginning to end this was the trip of the year. Captain Wade Murphy Jr was a kind and gracious host. His Skipjack the Rebeeca T Ruark is obviously something he loves deeply and she is a Chesapeake treasure. She has won more Skipjack races...More

Living on the Jersey Shore, coming to Tilghman Island is like home away from home. Making the experience even more special, and a must for anyone visiting the Island, is a trip on the SkipJack, Rebecca T. Ruark. Your Captain, and host for the trip,...More

You cannot miss his passion for preserving the Chesapeake Bay. We talked about the decline of the rock fish (stripped bass) and the moritoriam saving that fishery which is now booming and his advocating for something very similar for the oysters. We had just a...More

I was disappointed with my experience aboard Captain Wade's vessel. Some of his comments made me very uncomfortable. He told us that black people just "naturally separate themselves from whites." He offered his political views on the unfortunate fire in Cambridge, Maryland in 1967; without...More

Located in Dogwood Harbor, this charter was our last stop before leaving Maryland. We drove almost 40 min to get out on the water and we were so glad we did. Captain Wade was a delightful educating captain. He told us many stories aboard the...More

The Rebecca Ruark is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a "must do" for any visitor to Tilghman Island in the summer months ( it's out oystering in the winter as a regular workboat). It's one of the few ( perhaps only...More

During a recent visit to Tilghman Island we were looking for an evening sail when we came across Capt Wade and the Rebecca Ruark. We contacted him shortly before the 6pm sail time. He has trouble communicating on the phone due to sight and hearing...More

My wife and I went out on a trip last night and it was awesome. He tells you the history of the boat and of the island. He makes his cruise very interactive and worth the price.

What the last responder said is correct. He does special cruises if you have a group like a wedding party, or any other dedicated group.

Sunset cruise is 6 p.m. departure; there is a daytime cruise at 11 a.m. I think. Boat holds at least 20 people. I would be sure to bring a life jacket for a child/baby as not sure Capt. Murphy has those. Best to call him... More
