Beautiful and peaceful

We traveled here on a bus trip in May of 2015. The tour guide explained all the history of the lighthouse. We had a bright sunny day and beautiful view of the water.

The renovated light house provides a great experience for all ages. My grandkids really enjoyed it. The view and history provide a point of view and education that few can. For me it is one of the highlights of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime museum which preserves the unique heritage of the Bay. I loved the story of the various keepers... More

What an incredible first hand view of what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper. It was great to see how the rooms were laid out for living space, how the lighthouse worked and the stories of the people who did the job.

Average lighthouse. It’s really part of the Chesapeake Bay Martime Museum. So if you’ve paid for the museum, you might as well visit the lighthouse. The lighthouse was moved from its original lacation in the bay, but it gives a good historical perspective of how lighthouse keepers lived isolated from the mainland - like the barrels to catch rainwater for... While within the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum make sure to ascend and visit this light house and learn about the history of living in and working the light houses on the Chesapeake Bay...good views. Allow about 20 minutes to take it all in,

I'm not sure why this is listed separately. I don't think you can get to it without paying the museum admission and getting access to the rest of the museum. Its a nice little bay lighthouse with three levels. A spiral staircase inside leads to the other levels. Getting out to the deck on the top level is through a... More

Part of the Chesapeake Bay Museum, this is an old lighthouse hauled from a different location. Not sure what significance it has.

This lighthouse is on the grounds of the Maritime Museum. We entered after hours when the Museum itself was closed, so we did not go inside, but were able to climb up to see the harbor views and peer inside at the exhibits. Having toured a similar lighthouse in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, the features were much the same. Only the... More

This lighthouse sits on the grounds of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and was moved there from its former home in Hooper Straight where is stood over the water isolated from land, providing safety for ships in the past working and sailing on the Bay. It's fully open and restored with historic information about life on the light and Bay... More
