This place is right down the street from my house. I go by it every time I go down the street. It is a beautiful piece of history.

The Viaduct is definitely worth a visit. It remains the world's oldest multiple arched stone railroad bridge. Be aware there is no real parking to photograph the bridge so there are two options: 1. Park illegally (i did this accidentally to get the shot and got lucky I didn't get caught). I don't recommend. or 2. The better option is... More

Openned in 1835 for rail traffic, and in continuous service. Spans the Patapsco River near Relay, MD and Elkridge, MD. This is active track, so do not go out on the bridge, and keep tabs on the kids. You won't have to wait long for a big freight to come along, or the colorful MARC commuter traisn in the morning... More

The Thomas Viaduct and old Viaduct Hotel site is just an awesome historic site to visit. I would suggest reading up a bit on the history of the site before visiting so that you can truly take in the historic value. Great area for hiking as well.

Interesting to drive by to see it, but really there is no place to pull over to go over to it. Nothing else to do here. Howard County should gussy it up somehow.

Could not find the place where the picture was taken but it was pretty there. Not much else going on around there. One road leads to a dead end and the other to downtown Eldridge.

As the other reviwer noted already, there is not much to do here. Good for a quick photo when on pulls over to the side of the road to take it. Interesting to see the structure from a building point of view but that is about it. This structure is certainly unique to this area.
