The Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge provides an easy, level walk through a wooded area bordering a saltwater marshland. The path is a boardwalk and appears to be wheelchair accessible. Pamphlets provide a brief description of the view from each scenic overlook. We didn't see a lot of wildlife, but it might have just been the time of year (fall).... More

The Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge is a one mile trail and walkway through the bird sanctuary. The trail and walkways are well maintained and provide excellent views of the salt marshes, river, and the ocean inlet that creates this bird sanctuary. This is a beautiful, easy and informative nature walk. Wonderful.

The wildlife refuge is a beautiful, peaceful place to walk. There is a one-mile loop on an easy path, with scenic overlooks all along the way. The marsh is filled with birds; at different times of day you can see other wildlife. We did the loop twice for a good morning walk. The path is flat and wide. Bring bug... More

We went on nice walk here with 4 adults and 3 young children. The one mile trail was paved and stiller friendly. We liked that it was easy to follow so we could let an active 5 yr old run to the next stop and wait for us. We all enjoyed this walk

This is a gorgeous mile long woodland groomed trail, winding along salt marshes in the Wells, Maine area. There are a dozen lookout stands throughout the trail to allow great marsh views and information written about each area. It is a beautiful sanctuary especially in the fall when the leaves are changing. It is free of charge.

An easily accessed walking trail along tidal basis within the shelter of protected woodlands. A very special area that's essentially meditative.
