Ideal weekend destination from Bangalore
Aug. 2018 • Couples
A lovely 170km drive from Bangalore brings you to BR Hills. The narrow hill climb to the top with a quaint little town mostly occupied by tribals and a few homestays and resorts. Pls book your stay before heading there.

Spectacular views. Lush green forest. Oxygen refresh. Detox!

Biligiriranganabetta. Biligiri Ranaganath Hills. BR Hills. They all are one and the same.

A couple of hours drive from Mysore and around four hours drive from Bangalore, BR Hills is evergreen. It’s usually shrouded in mist or lush green. The road is uniformly good and a very pleasant drive.

There is a temple at the top of the hill for those interested. You will need to pay a fee to get in as this is reserve forest land ( and that’s great to keep away the booze crowd).

There aren’t many economical stay options. There is a Govt Guest house but I haven’t heard good feedback about it. For those who really want to spend money, there is apparently a Jungle Lodge that’s exorbitant.

But to me, this is more a place for a day trip. Full of great views of the forests and the valley beneath, dotted with the odd pond or lake and with great photo ops. You will do yourself good by arriving here by 10’ish in the morning with some packed lunch and spend time till 3 pm or so, before you get back to smoky, polluted and congested Bangalore by around 8 pm.

Aug. 2016 • Family
B R Hills located in Yalandur taluk of Chamarajanagar District, at about 90-95 Kms from Mysore & 200 Kms from Bangalore (via Kollegal)..
Its must visit place for Wild life enthusiast since BRT tiger reserve is located in this forest range where one can spot many wild animals..K Gudi Camp consisting many Dashera fame Elephants located also falls within this forest range..
It's Divine place because Famous Temple of lard Maha Vishnu in the name of Lord Venkateshwara or Ranganatha is situated here for which thousands of devotees visit during Sravana specially Saturday's..

What a view?!
Dec. 2015 • Couples
2 hours drive from Mysore and you reach B.R. Hills. Preferably, a morning place, hence, it makes a great view point and we had a good darshan in the temple there.
