Okay lighthouse

My husband & I stopped by to see the lighthouse. It's pretty but I've seen better..you can't get too close to it because it's a private residence

In reading some of the reviews, do not understand how you cannot revel in the history of them. How do you suggest to not visit them. Men and woman spent there lives in some of these and saved so many lives. I thought this was just pure history to enjoy. So please take the time in what ever state your... More

On my drive home from Canada I decided to take a turn off of route 1 and see the lighthouse, Glad I did, wonderful park to stop and have a picnic and enjoy the view.

You enter the state park and pay a fee on the honor system. There are a few trails that lead to wooded picnic areas. Would not recommend as it was a bit overgrown and buggy. A few tables are a bit better to the left of the privately owned lighthouse. You can walk around it to take pics. There is... More

We thought we were just heading to see a privately owned Lighthouse but we found alot more! The view was fantastic! The lighthouse is pretty but the Fog Horn was amazing! Just never knew what they used be forever the Fog Horn was developed. The Fort also was so cool to see. Never saw one that small before! I would... More

We stopped by the Fort Point Light for a light walk around after lunch at Libbie's where the sandwiches are really good and huge. Not fancy...just home style comfort. So we visited two good spots in one.

Friends have a home down the street. Anytime we're here we love to walk to the lighthouse and take in a bit of Maine history. Quite nice.

or if you MUST see every lighthouse in Maine (I believe there are 68) it cost 3.00 to get in, honor system, there is a box. The Lighthouse is private so it feels rather strange being on the grounds, snapping photos. There is a bell tower, and the remains of Fort Pownall an earthworks from the French & Indian War.... The light is a private residence which sits behind a fence with no access. A barking dog is there to remind you of that fact. The structure is in need of a coat of paint. The grounds are poorly maintained. $3.00 per non-resident admission wasted money that could have used to see more inviting attractions.

Easy access, great history info, only $3 per car - honor system. Easy to find - only a short drive from Acadia National Park!
