This historic place is beautiful. It was a super hot day when we were in South Portland. Came here in the evening and enjoyed the cool sea breeze while walking out to the lighthouse. A good location for some great pics.
This is a fun place to wander around but the parking is limited and there are no washrooms. There is a port-a-potty but it was filthy.

Points of interest near and far visible from Fort Preble. The fort is not much itself, just walls where cannons could aim out at passing boats. Unfortunately no trace of the actual weaponry left. Portland Breakwater Light is visible to the north, Spring Point Light...More
We had taken a harbor cruise and made a stop at Fort Preble where the guide gave us some interesting facts about the fort and its history.
We thought it was interesting and plan to come back to explore it further.
