We visited Higgins beach with an old friend who lives in Portland. I felt like I was in beach heaven. We were able to walk pretty deep in the water and the views were just beautiful. This was a highlight of our trip to Maine.

The beach changes dramatically from high to low tide. At high tide it is perfect for your children as it stays shallow for yards. At low tide, the beach is huge with tide pools to explore.

Higgins Beach is a classic old Maine beach neighborhood. Surfing, dogs in the morning. What a fun summer spot!

The beach is broad and wide, allowing for great walks at sunrise. Surfers skim the water and there are ample places to people watch, enjoy the water, watch birds, and relax.

We stayed at the Higgins Beach Inn just 2 blocks from the ocean. Nice place to stay, great breakfasts and dinners as well. Loved the staff there.
