It was a nice hike with many scenic vistas. Lots of waterfalls. It was a little tricky to find. If you drive up the road by the library and then by the airport you're well on your way there.

Beautiful views and moderate trail, when you turn on to the dirt road to get there keep going until you reach the gate, it is a good 7 miles in. I would recommend bringing water shoes to cross the river as the rocks can be...More

Based on all the wonderful reviews, we tried to hike here. After 45 minutes of dirt roads, we came upon a private toll booth. We knew that some private property owners did indeed charge fees. We were okay with that. But the gatekeepers tried to...More

It was long overdue that I did the Gulf Hagas hike. I was not disappointed. I did the Rim Trail (the blue trail on the map) and I would split the difficulty of this hike in 3 parts. So you know if you park near...More

We parked at the Upper Gulf Parking Area, walked 1.7 miles to meet the Rim Trail, took that down past Cole's Corner, connected to the Pleasant Trail, did an out and back on that to Screw Auger Falls, and then took Pleasant Trail back to...More

My dog almost died here. She slid off a rock and down into the canyon. She came VERY close to dying that day. So HIGHLY recommend keeping even young, agile dogs on a leash for safety. Otherwise gorgeous hike! Moderately challenging.

My boyfriend and I decided to take up Gulf Hagas while on vacation in Millinocket and I am so glad we did. After reading many reviews we decided to take our dog with us (2 year old mutt mix) and she did fine. She loves...More
