I have been going to the Breakwaters since I was a young child on trips to Maine as I visited my grandparents. I have since moved to Maine as an adult and continue to bring my own children several times thru spring summer and fall months. It is such a nice scenic walk out to the light house, very relaxing... The lighthouse itself isn't anything stellar, but what makes this place so wonderfully unique is the stone walkway that takes you out to the lighthouse in the middle of the water. The parking lot is in a residential area, so definitely use your GPS to find it or you may get lost. Also keep an eye on the weather since... More

Awesome walk on a Breakwater to a lighthouse at the end of the Breakwater. The walk is a mile round trip. Of course one can't walk it during storms or very high tides but other times it's a refreshing and scenic walk. You can sit on the deck at the lighthouse and look back at the Samoset Resort, the beautiful... More

Lovely mile long walk out along the breakwater, felt 'off the beaten track' mid January, I imagine a bit more touristy in summer months. Nothing to see/do a such, but an enjoyable walk in a beautiful setting.

It's a great walk out to the lighthouse, a cool breeze in the summer time. Just keep an eye on where you are walking because there are gaps in the rocks.

So happy to find this place, it's such a nice walk. We loved it. It was really cold, so I suggest going in the summer but its fun.

The Rockland Breakwater light is a "must see" if you are in the Midcoast Maine area. The pathway to the light can be accessed from a side street adjacent to the Samoset resort or from the hotel itself. It is approximately 8/10 mile long and takes about 30 minutes to get to the lighthouse. The walkway consists of a series... More

A nice walk out to the lighthouse, sad that we missed the season when it's actually open! We enjoyed the view and even saw some fish swimming about!

Take some time, stop here and stroll around. It is quiet a walk to the lighthouse but this is Maine at its best! We took a look at the breathtaking lighthouse and the harbour of Rockland. While walking we saw a fisherman catching some lobster. This is it! Cant get any better!

I went a couple days ago and when I did it was high did and beautifull day. I also went onto the docks and boats that were connected.
