When we first arrived at the Breakwater, we said "where's the lighthouse?" Upon further investigation, we saw it ...waaaay out there!! It sat almost 1 mile away at the end of a rock jetty that looked fairly level to walk. After mulling it over, we decided...More

This is a 4300 foot walk each way, uneven surface on large quarried stones. We really enjoyed it. Nice view at end from path around lighthouse. Great way to get some exercise.

The Rockland light is very close to the Samoset Resort and is a very pleasant walk out over the breakwater. There are nice views of the harbor and if you want you can even fish of the breakwater.

Went out twice, first to explore around the lighthouse. It's a nice walk out on the breakwater to the lighthouse, but if you are not sure of your balance better not give it a try. Nice morning walk though

An almost mile-long rocky, but flat, stone jetty awaits you. There's a small park prior to a short walk out to the jetty. No bathrooms, nothing open to see at the end of the jetty. It gets windy... and if you have a small child...More

We really enjoyed this walk. But it is not just a flat walk. You are stepping from huge block to huge block. But it is well worth it for the view.

No. The pathway is constructed with large granite blocks which are irregular shapes and have gaping cracks between each block. It would be impossible in a wheel chair. It is also very difficult for anyone with a walking... More
