Whether climbing a mountain, entering a bear's den, role-playing crewmembers on a 40-foot schooner or manning a space shuttle, children will have a blast at this highly interactive museum. Most of the museum is geared to children aged one to 11, but young teens will like the computer lab and the camera exhibits. There's also a play area just for toddlers.

The museum is small but packed with entertainment for the little ones. Most activities are geared toward imaginative play with themed areas such as grocery store, farming, camping, fire station and diner, but also has a great playground. Kids are 2 and 7 and both...More

We had never taken our 4 and a half year-old son to a children's museum, so with the recommendation of the Nonantum hotel where we were staying, we headed up 95 on a rainy day. We got there around 1030 and didn't leave until it...More

We have been taking our grandchildren on occasion, but now that there are 5 of them, we have taken a Grandparents' Membership. It is good for two named grandparents and any two children. It costs $40 for four people without membership and only $85 for...More

It was perfect for my 3.5 year old. We spent hours there and she did not get bored. More of a super cool play space than a museum, but worth a visit.

We were looking for something to do to get our seven year old's energy taken care of, so we took her here on our trip to Portland. She liked all the exhibits, specifically the fire engine, complete with dress up, and the space shuttle. On...More

Each time I visit my grandchildren in Portland, we go to the Children's Museum. My 2-1/2 year old granddaughter loves every inch of it from the ball room to the "doctor's office". And now even my 9-month old grandson loves to explore the infant area!...More

Lots of activities and interesting things for kids to do. It was crowded when we went but the little ones didn't mind at all.

There would be some things that would be interesting for an 8.5 yo, but the way the museum is set up, it definitely looks younger - things are small/low and most of it seems to be geared to ages 3-6. Each child is different... More

Two hours would be perfectly adequate. The star show and touch tank are really nice programs for the kids. So, you may be there a little longer to get both of those in.
