Off the beaten path, but worth the trip. The historical information is pretty thorough, but you're on your own, as there don't seem to be any rangers/interpreters around. Nice beach for a walk. And very nice setting. Parking is a mess, though.

Had no idea this historical site existed. Who knew such a fortress was built during the Civil War? We stumbled upon this site while seeking a beach to walk on. So, we got a double treat. Well worth the trip to see it.

Exploring the in's and out's of this historic beautiful stone work fort is beyond comparison to any other oceanside opportunity - during any season that it is open. Most popular is of course summer - ample parking, but could fill up - if it does,...More

By all means. This park is at the end of the road, so park near by, and walk to wherever you feel would be a good night-time shot of the fort. Some fascinating history with this place.
