Small is indeed beautiful where this garden is concerned. Although a last minute addition to our private drive tour simply because I mentioned I loved gardening, this was memorable & worthy. With twin long borders, mirrored images of each other, full of late summer perennial colour. A lovely pond I'd love to see mid summer & statuary dotted around strategically... More

While we were in the Asticou Azalea Garden, we learned about this garden, which is "around the corner." Now it is atop the Asticou Terraces, & if you park on the road, you will walk up 200 steps of the terraces to enter the garden (we did this climb only to learn that further down the road, you could access... Snuggled alongside a carriage path, overlooking the harbor in Northeast Harbor the natural beauty and serenity of the site is amazing.

This garden is much, much more than flowers...this is history. The lodge is stunning! A grandfather click built in the 1700's still ticking! On the second floor..a rafter has a signature. Must see! The gardens are breathtakingly gorgeous! The peacefulness, the relaxing environment is very healing!

This is a hidden gem. Absolutely beautiful garden and the opportunity to view the harbor and water from on high. Love the terraced trail leading up to the gardens. If you are able, don't drive to the entrance but walk up the trail. Even my non flower loving husband enjoyed Thuya gardens immensely. And it's free!

It is always a treat to visit this spectacular garden and the lodge is a remarkable refuge. If you are up to the slightly steep ascent, park on the lower road and walk up the terraces to enjoy the view and monument. On a recent visit, that was our plan, but the little parking lot was full below so we... More

Beautifully well kept garden and home! A must see for gardeners, landscape architects and builders. There is so much more than just plants. He lived there and made it comfortable and creative. Unusual use of color combinations in the plant textures and flower colors! The wood work from the carved wooden gate featuring animals and plants of the area to... More

First off,my wife is a garden person,me,not so much,so after a big tasty Mexican lunch at Jalapeño in downtown Acadia after hiking up and down Cadillac Mtn.,I told my wife that if it was OK with her, I would bike to Thuya gardens and meet the family there. It turned out to be a pretty hilly 12 miles and, after... More

As an employee at the Asticou Inn, I am priveleged to have a short walk to Thuya Garden. I highly recommend the short climb (or drive) up to the incredibly colorful, fragrant garden. The precise design, and diversity, accompanied by the incredible peace of the garden make it one of the best attractions in the area. Look for bees and... More

The Garden is just as nice on a rainy overcast day as it would be any other time and is the perfect option for days like this when visiting the Bar Harbor/Acadia area. To me it had a Pacific Northwest/Japanese feel to it complete with the broad featured substantial looking carpentry in the fences, gates, and structures using large timbers.... More
