This is a demonstration of lobster fishing and information about lobster biology, Maine lobster fisheries, commercial aspects of the fishery and last but not least, some local history. Fun for the whole family. The Rugosa is a real wooden lobster boat out on the Gulf of Maine and in terms of information shared by the tour guide, it is pretty comprehensive material for children under 4 years of age. Very young children can be a distraction to the rest of the guests aboard the boat, enjoying the presentation.

The guys were nice and knowledgeable about lobsters and Kennebunkport. The kids liked it but were a little bored for some of it. It was fun watching them band a lobster claw, hold one, and also hold a hermit crab from one of the traps....More

When do 'tours' start 2017 season? And... or, do you or could you book, go out, on a regular, non tourist type of day? Early season, first of May?

Answer

We usually start the week before Memorial Day. This year it was the 23rd. Weather is a little sketchy early in the season so be aware of weather forecasts in the area.
