Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful lava waterfalls. Water colours are very pretty, if travelling in November the falls might be frozen. About 10 mnutes' walk to reach the falls.

We’ve seen many waterfalls all over but we were stunned by the view of this gorgeous series of falls along a long stretch of the river. Definitely a must see place.

A truly unique kind of falls. More of a seep - high powered. Easy to get to and a short walk from the parking lot, if you are exploring West Iceland, this is a must go on your list. Figure about an hour.

You cannot see these waterfalls from close distance; however, you can be overlooking all the waterfalls from a platform. It is pretty impressive view and not that many people go there, so I recommend you to stop by.

Beautiful and amazing to see! Easy walkable path from parking lot. Barnafoss is the same area and the path will take you there.

What a place! What a waterfalls! What a view! We got there almost by mistake as we got stuck in Husafell due to a snow storm... And we were suggested these waterfalls... Absolutely stunning!! The contrast between black rock, snow and sky blue waterfalls was breathtaking! And just few tourists!

Hraunfossar is a collection of many creeks and cascades small and big streaming out of the lava over a distance of about 900 meters. What makes this waterfall unique is that the lava is overlain by more porous rock above so the water drops out at above midslope in the Hvítá river. The water's source is the massive Langjökull glacier, which is Iceland's second largest glacier. Truly a magnificent sight with the white waterfalls cascading into the turquoise waters of the Hvítá river. The overlook on the south side of the river is perfectly situated to get a great panorama of this impressive waterfall. Not visited as much as Gullfoss on the Golden Circle, but it is a comparable wonder. Also a few hundred meters away is the Barnafoss Waterfall which is also spectacular.

Hraunfossar is actually a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming out of a lava field. We visited it in late October and the place all around was slightly covered by snow and ice. It was absolutely spectacular and the access to it is easy (there is a pathway leading to it from a free parking lot).

As waterfalls go, this place is a must. There are various impressive viewpoints to gaze upon this sprawling and majestic series of waterfalls. We had visited a number of average sites throughout the day and felt that maybe we were tapped out as far as beautiful nature visits are concerned. However, our visit here changed all that. I loved how big this place was and it had many elements to it which I also appreciated. I highly recommend visiting this place in Western Iceland. So incredible !
