This is a historic park right on Castine Harbour. It has earthen fortifications, an artillery cannon, and the US flag flying proudly. Nice spot to learn about Castine's early military history and have a picnic lunch.

This is just an outdoor park but has become a tradition on our visits. Run around with the kids, sit on the cannons, have a picnic (but bring the bug spray)

Almost always cool and breezy, fantastic views, picnic bench and places to sit to enjoy the view, step access to small beach, historic cannon and burms, beautiful scenic harbor. Best place in Castine to enjoy the view.

We attended a wedding held at this park. The view, the blue skies and clouds and the surrounding historical houses make it a splendid location to relax and spend a bit of time.

You can tell where the fort was by the earthen works mounds and the cannon makes it interesting. The view of Penobscot Bay is wonderful and you can understand why there were many fights to control this location! Even is the Fort does not interest you, it's a great place to watch the water.

Lovely views to Castine Harbor entrance and across Penobscot Bay to Islesboro. Watching the boats coming and going is a delight!

The remnants of an earthenworks fort built by the British in the late 1700s. You can see why they choose this spot once you see the all-encompassing view of the bay they had from here. There is also an old cannon on site. None of the buildings remain. There are several benches and picnic tables where you can site and... More

Travel time is almost to its peak in Maine. The Peepers are coming by the bus load for the colors. We just came back from Fort Madison State Park near Maine . Hit 40 degrees and the reds came popping out. Give it two more weeks and POW Camera in the ready!!
