Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a natural wonder on 270 acres of shorefront in mid-coast Maine. Strolling through spectacular ornamental gardens and traversing miles of waterfront and woodland trails, visitors are delighted by the beautiful plantings, impressive stonework, waterfalls and fountains, and scenic views. It's no wonder the Gardens have been hailed as one of Maine's top three attractions. The Gardens are open 9-5 April 15 - October 31 (open until 6 pm in July and August). There is a cafe and gift shop on site. A visit at any time is a memorable experience.

This used to be a beautiful place to visit. No longer. They have recently clear-cut over 25 acres of pristine natural forest for 800 parking lots and waste water treatment systems, right next door to a spring-fed lake, which also serves as the regions water...More

We spent a couple of hours and did not see it all. We enjoyed the Children's Garden a lot and spent a long time there -- still didn't see it all. We spent several hours and did not see it all. We went into the...More

This is a special creation that is expanding (for good reason) by leaps and bounds. We expected the standard old "botanical garden" but instead were presented with this superb display of preservation and the opportunity to learn. John greeted us and gave a very helpful...More

We were expecting a small garden and were overwhelmed with this awesome place. Though visiting in the fall, the gardens were still glorious, so thoughtfully planted with native plants, colorful annuals, and interspersed with lovely benches, sculptures, a children's garden (that any big kid over...More

I garden, I visit gardens, and this was such a great experience-especially that they are celebrating their 10th anniversary, not long in "garden years"! I guess it was the mild early fall, but I was surprised by how much was still in bloom in October....More

We had a good time touring the gardens. This place is a must see if you are visiting the area. They are always increasing the gardens, paths and parking areas.

What a surprise finding this hidden treasure tucked away along the coast. It has been open 10 yrs, created by people who loved their home in Maine and willing to share with others. Each season offers a different bloom, smell and sound. Nov/Dec brings about...More

This was the highlight of my trip to the Boothbay region. Even though it was fall, the gardens were absolutely beautiful with many plants and flowers still in place. The layout is incredible with benches, statutes, etc. There is a wonderful area for children. I...More

Creatively designed and beautifully maintained, with wonderfully diverse plantings, color combinations, water features, hardscapes, sculptures, and surprises around every corner. If possible, give yourself at least half a day to explore the complete grounds.

You can arrive in Boothbay Harbor but you would need to pass under a fixed bridge to get to the Gardens. It is tidal water so the clearance under the bridge varies. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call... More

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to avoid crowds but special attractions and guests are most often on weekends. It's really a large area so there should not be much crowding other than the ticket line and delightful restaurant.
