We enjoyed the film and learned something about the Red River. The displays were well done, but the information was limited. If you want a place to sit and learn or want just a bit of history, this was a nice place with friendly staff.

Was hoping to find information on a river cruise that starts right across the road from here but no one knew anything about it. Not much literature to look at about the area, but nice, clean space to use the bathroom and the people were...More

It was located right across the street from the Children and Science Museum so we figured hey why not. The staff was very helpful, but it was hot as a dickens inside the building. Neat and quick visit overall though.

If in the area, drop in for 20 minutes but Nothing dramatically unique .... nothing you can't miss.... simple, sterile & clean as expected from a federal government visitor center.

This a free visitor center with a very good film about the Red River. The exhibits are probably only okay tho. Unfortunately, the one person staff was sick and a lady tried to turn the lights on but was only partially successful. She was very...More

This museum gives you a very quick view of the history of the Red River, from DeSoto to the present. Without beating a dead horse, it shows the the challenges overcome, from Spanish opposition to log jams/dams, to soft bottoms and swift currents that constantly...More

This modernistic boat-shaped building (look real close and squint to see the "boat shape") has an auditorium, where one should view the 12-minute video presentation, to set the stage for looking at the exhibits in the other end of the not-too-large building. The visitor center...More

Talking to the Lead Ranger, they are in the process of making lots of new improvement to both inside and outside the building and improving the displays and tours of what they have inside. If you are looking for somewhere to take your Girl Scouts...More
