As part of an archaeological conference being held in Marksville, we were given a private tour of the park. This important archaeological park and site was recently closed due to state budget concerns and was already falling into disrepair.

Some mounds to see but this place has been shuttered for years. Very much in disrepair and really nothing to see. The artifacts have been moved to a LA university.

I was looking forward to this. but the entrance was barricaded... There wasn't even a place to park and walk in - plus it is NOT in the best part of town - abject poverty in the area. Very sad

If you have any interest in native american history, this place is a treat. It doesn't sing to you. There's no dancing or twinkling lights. There isn't any rides. What there is is history that will cause you to pause and ponder.

Very nice museum complete with a short descriptive film. Very interesting guide. Indian mounds were restored but does not detract from the history there.

liked the display of native american relics. The arrowhead collection located near the buffet in the casino alone is impressive

We toured both the museums and walked around the grounds including around to the different mounds. It's a very interesting and informative place. We were staying at the Paragon visiting my husband who was working in the area. This wasn't very far from the hotel.

The history of this site is fascinating and shines a light on some of North America's earliest-known civilizations. The tour is a bit less interesting, however -- our tour guide was VERY talkative -- I think he may have been waiting for anyone to show...More
