I know it sounds a little idealistic but I expected Gretna Green to be a quaint little village. How wrong was I. On arrival there must have been around 8 coaches in the car park. Couldn't go in the Blacksmiths as there was a wedding going on - apparently I overheard one of the shop assistants say it was one... More

Couldn't go into the Blacksmiths itself as there were a couple of weddings on (which is fair enough!) Lots of gift shops and a restaurant which was average at best - lukewarm coffee and expensive scones. Staff in the restaurant were waiting to clock off it seemed, but the gift shop staff were attentive.

We visited the Gretna Green Blacksmith Shop and had a great time. It was very interesting and the staff were very chatty and helpful.

This is a wonderful venue for those interested in a wedding-over-the-anvil or those who wish to see a novel piece of Scottish lore. My wife and I really enjoyed being there. There is so much to see and the atmosphere is lovely - with a great piper, who is very, very good. The downside is that everything is so expensive,... More

This site in general is very accessible to everyone, whether on foot or in a wheelchair,& I have visited in both, last year and this. Everywhere is very clean and the gardens are lovely the staff are very helpful. My friend and I had lunch in the Restaurant last week when we were there and it was superb.

We got married here 20 years ago, and returned for old times sake. Our impression now is of a much more commercialised place, clean and a little clinical if I am honest.. Still nice to visit, but lacks the personal touch of 20 years ago

This was a trip down memory lane for my wife and I. We got married here over 15yrs ago. We hadn't been back since getting married. This time we visited with our son. The place was very different. It has now (understandably) become much for commercial. Maybe it is me getting old but it seems to have lost some of... More
