La Azotea Cultural Center is really 3 or 4 things in one. Indoors, there is Casa K'ojom, a museum with exhibits dedicated to the history of Mayan musical instruments and their function in the life, spirituality and culture of the Maya. There is also Rincón de Sacatepéquez, which covers the history of textiles and crafts in the Antigua area. Finally,... More

La Azotea is fun and educational. You learn the life cycle of coffee and how it is processed. You your the coffee groves and their floral gardens. There is also a small and interesting Mayan museum. Of course you have the opportunity to buy coffee, chocolate and other souvenirs. Well worth a visit.

We spent about 2.5 hours at this place and loved it. The music museum is quite nice and you can try different instruments. In the coffee museum you can learn everything about how coffee is coming from the plant to your cup. Make sure to take a tour of the coffee plantation (we joined another group so I'm not sure... This has many attractions in one place, the coffee and music museums, the horse riding, horse stable, souveniers, the views....definitely a must if you are staying for more than 1 day in Antigua

We thoroughly enjoyed our English speaking tour of this coffee plantation (finca). Our host spoke good English, was friendly, and responsive to all of our questions. We enjoyed learning about the coffee planting, harvesting, and preparation of the beverage. An excellent tour if you have time. So close to the town of Antigua too...just short tuk tuk ride.

La Azotea is in the suburb of Jocotenango, just a couple of kilometres northwest from the centre of Antigua. It can be accessed either by chicken bus or on foot. Either way, the last 500 metres are accessed on foot by heading due west from the square in Joco with the pink baroque-style church directly behind you. The centre has... More

I stopped by to inquire about group tours since I plan to take a group of garden club members from Texas to Guatemala in the next few months. I was very impressed with the luscious gardens, the nursery, the museums and the store. I know my fellow gardening experts will enjoy this tour and I can't wait to visit again.

This is located at a coffee plantation and is run by them. You can get a tour of the plantation and the processing area, the plant nursery which has some lovely, unique things to see, then do a little shopping in their gift shop and then wander through the cultural center. There are wonderfully detailed vignettes constructed with a summary... More
