Fort Duffield is an interesting piece of Civil War history. There are at least two routes up to see the fort that I know of, and both are relatively strenuous. One is up the steep paved road, the other is on the wooded trails. The...More

We came here in a very wet April day. Started up the trail during a break in the rain, and had a great time exploring the Fort even though both the trails and the boardwalks were slippery. In hindsight, we should have taken the trail...More

A great place to take a hike in the woods and of a view of the Ohio River and West Point, KY at the top at Fort Duffield. It's very peaceful and picturesque. Usually in May of September there are Civil War events/demonstrations here. Otherwise,...More

We were fortunate to have discovered this place. A real feel for the Civil War times. We enjoyed a hike which we weren't prepared for. Tennis shoes were fine. We also grabbed a brochure describing the area. A place to go.

Just a quarter mile trail but very steep. The trail through the woods is nicer and easier than the climb up the paved road. There is not much to see. The breastworks stand almost 17' high. There are two old cabins for the chaplain and...More

Early spring day - looking for Tioga Falls - and googlemap sent us to the fort. Nice, interesting walk up to top for a good view and a bit of history thrown in.
