- Countryvisitor_1243 contributionsGreat selection of quality wines with some unusual varietals includedGreat range of quality wines available to taste including some unusual varietals. Tasting charge is deducted from purchases of 6 or more. Knowledgeable cellar door staff guided us through the wines we tasted. Terrific view from indoor or outdoor seating at the cellar door.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 April 2024
- Claire L4 contributionsDelicious and tailoredMy wife and I had an absolutely delightful time at O’Leary Walker cellar door. Andy who served us was very knowledgeable and lovely to chat to. Having the option to choose a personalized selection of wines to try during the flights enabled us to have a tailored experience and try the ones that excited us most. The wine selection was varied and offered more than the standard Clare Valley Riesling and Shiraz, making a memorable visit.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 May 2024
- JElliot32New South Wales, Australia4,062 contributionsGreat view, great winesThis was our first visit to O'Leary Walker based on a recommendation of friends from Sydney. Very glad they did. Firstly, the views across the valley from the tasting centre are breathtaking - even when the area is in drought. Must look sublime when everything is green. And the wines we tasted where pretty good too. We shared a 'signature flight' for $10 and particularly enjoyed their Polish Hill Riesling and the Watervale Riesling and their Clare Valley Shiraz. Wines are well-priced too.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 May 2024
- bobjanhBrisbane, Australia2,405 contributionsWonderful venueA great lunch and wine tasting experience. Lunch is available all week although during the week kids a share platter option only - more is available on weekends. We went during the week and the share platter was great. Comfortable venue, lovely views over the vineyards and good wines as well. A most enjoyable experience.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 August 2024
- Mrs Cooper3 contributionsO’Leary Walker Wine CellarThe best wine tasting of our Riesling Trail day out in Clare Valley. Andy was an excellent host, informative and attentive, making our wine tasting a memorable experience. The cheese platter was outstanding with mouth watering freshly baked sourdough, local honey with truffle oil, delicious cheeses and fruit. We learnt a lot about the local wines and the history of the area. The view is lovely too.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 September 2024

We visited this winery after cycling along the Riesling bike trail. Service is impeccable with polite and knowledgeable staff who are clearly passionate about wine. We enjoyed the $30 cheese platter which showcased local produce including truffle infused honey, Shiraz and plum paste and artisan made sour dough bread. Triple cream Brie was amazing. Expansive wine list to suit all tastes and budgets. Coffee also excellent. Sit outside and take in the lovely views of the valley.

From the moment we walked in to the end, the service was amazing. The views from the tasting area and restaurant are fantastic. The food, wow. We had the 4 plates plus dessert. First of all was the amazing sour dough and butter. I absolutely love great bread, and this was definitely great bread. I knew I shouldn’t eat all of it but I could not help myself, it was delicious. Then we had the beef dumplings. I thought maybe there would be one each, but there were three each. Again so tasty and the spicy sauce was so great. We then had the barramundi which was $5 extra pp, but well worth it. Beautiful crispy skin and in a fabulous laksa sauce. We also had the sticky chicken, was a huge serve, but so great - we took a few bits home. Lastly was the steak, again an extra cost of $10 pp. but beautifully cooked, so tender, the red wine jus amazing, and served with the most amazing crispy fluffy potatoes - they just melted on the tongue. We were so full but managed to force ourselves to have the desser, my partner had the affogato and I had the persimmon and white chocolate dessert, very very tasty. An absolutely delicious meal from start to end. Can not recommend enough. We will be back, and soon!

This is a great location for a cheese platter and lunch with a few wines from their exceptional selection. The platter was beautifully presented with local produce. The wine we tried was excellent and the staff were great. It has sweeping views across the valley and is completely relaxing.
Highly recommended.

We visited O’Leary Walker today on our semi annual visit to the region expecting to taste the wines we prefer and make a purchase.
What we were greeted with was structured tasting flights which we were going to be charged for. As we were only interested in Riesling of which there were only two we weren’t going to taste any of the other three in the flight but were still going to be charged for the five. To add insult to injury the cost of the flight was not redeemable upon making a purchase.
After a discussion with the person behind the bar we were grudgingly allowed to taste one Riesling and were not charged when we purchased two bottles.
If this is the direction that the bigger cellar doors are going we will be only going to the smaller, more friendly and way more involved places and spending our money with them.
We do not appreciate being told what we can taste and then being charged for the privilege.
Not going back!

Hi Mark,
We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit to us, and appreciate your feedback.
Our tasting fees were introduced in line with a consensus from the majority of members in the Clare Valley Wine and Grape Association, however we will certainly pass on your feedback surrounding a redeemable fee to our management team.
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip to the Clare Valley.
Kindest,
O'Leary Walker

Waited 10 minutes at the counter just ask a question in regards to tasting, not even a hello won't be a minute from the staff. At the 1st opportunity to ask how tasting works at this winery, we were bluntly asked "well do you have a booking ? Just got handed a menu and said with the sun out now there's plenty of room to sit, find a table" we discussed very quickly that we'd find another winery to go to, very much felt like that looked at how I was dressed, judged and went not gonna spend a lot no effort put in. Instead we drove down the road to claymore wines very friendly staff greeted as soon as in the door, knew there wines no just chucked a menu here's your options. A box of wine later we were happy.

We booked for lunch and had the chefs feed me menu, every dish was delicious! We asked if they did wine matching with the menu or if we could taste any wines but we were told “no because it’s too noisy” we were very confused about this response as we choose to have lunch at a winery so we could taste wines along with the food - also noting we were the only couple in the entire restaurant so I’m not sure how tasting wine would be noisy.. we almost left to eat at another winery that offered tasting with their food but I’m glad we didn’t as we would have missed out on an amazing lunch.
So mixed emotions, great food, bad customer experience.

Dropped into O’Leary Walker wines on a weekday afternoon. Beautiful views across Leasingham. Very pleasant wines (with a standout or two...try the fortified shiraz, the fortified Riesling and the Pinotage for something special). Served attentively by the lovely Brittany who was not only friendly but very knowledgeable on all wines available. Thank you for a great experience.

The wines are OK although there are better wineries close by (Kilikanoon, Shut the Gate) but the food is to be avoided at all cost. The waitress was rude and totally devoid of any interest in what the customer preferred. Why she worked in hospitality is beyond me. The platters are particularly poor quality and a total rip off.

We had visited here several years ago, so decided on a second visit, as we found the food there delish.
We were not disappointed.
The winery tasting room has had a major redo and looks more accommodating and comfy rather than the barn like appearance of old. The restaurant area is now separated by glass doors from the more casual wine tasting/eating area, making it much more user friendly. The views remain the same, gorgeous from every angle.
We had added entertainment from a couple, who were obviously doing a marketing assignment for O’Learys for the Chinese market! Outside with all different wines and platters in the brisk wind! Very entertaining!
We were amazed at the number of people there with the same idea, so it was very busy.
We decide to skip the wine tasting and just settle for lunch. We decide to try three small plates and a side with a glass of sparkling red. Good choice!
The three dishes we chose, beef carpaccio, duck breast and dumplings as well as the to-die-for roasted potatoes were totally delish! Beautiful subtle flavours and taste from all four dishes.
We will be back, and we highly recommend this lovely winery for a casual or sit down special lunch.

also, the winery itself is a beautiful building. We rode our rented bikes down from Clare and enjoyed a couple of hours sitting inside the lovely tasting room, eating a variety of appetizers and enjoying very reasonably priced wines by the glass. A very pleasant time indeed.
