The artwork was plentiful and most impressive for a small venue. There is a wide variety of art covering many different fields. The Kentucky art area was very interesting.

Permanent collection is diverse and has some interesting pieces. The museum is a very nice building on the UL campus. We also saw a traveling exhibit of women impressionist painters, which was very good. The Cassat and Morisot I knew, but some very good painters...More

While the museum has grown over the years it still operates as a small town institution. We drove two hours to see an important exhibit, with the website saying it was open, only to find it closed for a marathon early in the day in...More

What a great art museum for such a small city. The special events are always worthwhile. The cinema is a great addition to the film scene here. Great new director.

We went to Louisville specifically to visit this exhibit, and were not disappointed. Filled with paintings borrowed from private collections and museums around the world, the exhibit is an in-depth and well-curated look at women in the arts in the latter part of the 19th...More

We spent about four hours which was just about enough. Both docent tours were well done. The exhibit of women artists was quite well done. All in all a most pleasurable experience.

What a really wonderful exhibit. So many beautiful paintings done by women who painted in Paris in the late 1800’s. It is absolutely worth the trip. We had a docent who was very knowledgeable and helpful. Such a nice exhibit.

There is paid parking at the museum. Sometimes you can get street parking but look at the signs carefully.
