I am from Ky and have been to the Derby many times. I brought a friend from out of state, to the Derby and she requested we go to the museum. Frankly, I thought it was going to be a bore since I was sure I knew what it was all about. How WRONG I was! This attraction is fabulous.... More

Good movie showing what the day is like on the day of the Kentucky Derby. The preparation, the crowd, the parties, the Race and the celebration by the owners, trainers and others associated with the Derby Winner - the first jewel of the triple crown of thoroughbred horse racing. Lot of displays and artifacts from past winners. But you do... More

This is an entertaining place to visit. There is a short video presentation on a large circular shaped screen, where you sit in the center of the circle/oval. Then it is followed by a walking tour out to the paddock where you can view the hoses that are preparing to race that day. Of course there is a gift shop... More

This museum exceeded my expectations: 360 degree theater showcases Derby Day American Pharaoh exhibit includes all trophies All the old Derby replays readily available Lots of artifacts on display Large, roomy, well laid out. ' Works' tour is primarily a trackside lecture from a knowledgeable employee including refreshments and plenty of time for questions and discussion. Definitely recommend!!

My husband and I took the "golf cart tour" on November, 15, 2016. Becky was our tour guide. What an amazing experience. Becky is a walking encyclopedia about Churchill Downs, horses, and racing. We learned so many interesting facts. Watching the horses doing their morning "work outs" was such a treat. And, oh, those beautiful horses! The "backside" tour" added... More

I'm not into horses or horse racing, truth be told. But you're in Louisville so you go to Churchill Downs, right? Pleasantly surprised by a lovely museum. I left with a new appreciation for the Derby as an American ritual.

They didn't have all their tours available when we visited so we just did the regular walking tour. Our tour guide wasn't very friendly or interactive with the tour group. She just repeated her script. The tour wasn't very long, they do take you to the winner's circle and the track. And that was truly amazing for someone who has... More

Sorry you visited when we didn't have our full schedule of tours. Usually during live race days we are more limited, but the 30 minute walking tour is designed to give you a taste of the track to all our visitors with their general admission ticket! More

The venue is sprawling and very impressive. The museum itself is well done. If you have followed the Kentucky Derby for any amount of time you will love the nostalgic feel and great information on how the great race comes together. The museum is free so if you're there go see it. It's a fun place to hang out for... More
