I am 69 hubby 78 we have been married 55 years. I w as born in Winchester and grandparents in Mt Sterling. Ruth Hunt Candy has been spoken around our table for years. We had some time to burn on the way to Louisville, so we pulled off the interstate and wound our way around to Ruth Hunt Candy Company down by the river in downtown Lexington. It is a step back in time to tour through this family-owned business. The owner is an antique collector and his assortment of candy making and... More

Short stop and fascinating process. This is the best candy in the world for me. The historic tour clues you into the hand-made process. Kentucky is so beautiful and Ruth Hunt Candies is centrally located. Don't mis it!

Took the tour here. Unique candy made by hand with time tested recipes. We went home with several selections and a catalog for future orders. The store front is a combination gift store and candy shop so plan a little time and make a reservation for the tour.

We stopped at the small candy shop/stand next to Prodigy Wine shop along the road. It was easy access and she had samples of bourbon balls to try before purchase. We did make a purchase of a box to take home and share with family. You could also purchase candy by the piece. It was nice to have this little... More

I didn't know if I was in the right place because this candy company shares space with the US Post Office. That's right, a candy store and post office all in one! I sampled their cheese mixes and bourbon balls. I bought some great gifts to take home. The clerks were fully engaged with their jobs and made everyone feel... More

Lots of places around have bourbon chocolates. And most are made here, and cost about the same. However, at the retail store here, we found 2nds or "rejects", with perhaps nuts not being whole, etc. Very reasonably priced. And I think tasted better than the boxed items.

We stopped here while on a road trip because we saw a sign and were intrigued . I think there are multiple locations but we went to the Maysfield location . This place is a dump . I almost didn't go in but my friend talked me into it . Inside it's a mix of premade candy , commercial candy... More

I always thought the world of this place. So much, that I made the mistake of trusting them to get a package shipped out to a dear friend. I was skeptical of their Authorized Mailing center status, but I decided that I would take a chance because they've been so well respected in our neighborhood. The lady that helped me... More

Our tour was offered when no candy was being made. They were washing dishes. I wish they would have let us know BEFORE we paid! There was a white board (in the kitchen area) that said 'no candy production on Friday, Maintenance only. Our tour girl knew SOME about the history of Ruth Hunt but some questions were being asked...
