Worth a stop if you're headed to Lake Yojoa from Tegucigalpa, but I don't know that I'd make a special trip just to come here if I wasn't already in the Lago Yojoa area. Visitors can do a self- tour on the concrete path up and down stairs with metal railings to the end and then turn around and come back. It only takes about 30 min if you don't stop for pictures. But it's very hot and humid, so plan extra time to stop and rest. I went in August of 2021 when foreign tourism was nonexistent due to Covid. There were only 2 other local families in the caves at the time I was there on a Friday afternoon. Entry was cheap. A few dollars. They have an extreme tour where you crawl around the cave system, spelunking. I really wanted to do that, but there weren't any guides that day. Just someone in the ticket booth. Inside the cave is interesting enough if you've never been in a cave before. Otherwise, it's just another cave, basically. Lots of artificial lights color the formations. There are signs (in Spanish) that point out rocks that are formed like a particular object. These signs also note the temperature and height/ depth of that part of the cave. The floor is slippery and the railings are wet and muddy. Bring shoes with good grip and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Outside, there are picnic tables and a few families were hanging out for the day, eating and playing music. The parking lot is a tiny gravel lot right off the busy highway. Even with the road signs, it's easy to blow past it. You may have to go up ahead and make a U-Turn.

The cave at taulabe is amazing and the price is hard to beat. $4 for a foreigner. Great formations in the cave and good lighting. The trail is paved and is fairly easy. You can do the cave on your own but I would recommend a guide. They work for tips only. Unlike other caves I've visited, the cave is warm and humid.

Kids loved it. The trail is 300 meters long, well lit and good walkways. Definitely get a tour guide to get the full history of the cave. Well worth your time and it's not expensive.

Very nice, reasonable price, very safe, well designed but slippery in spots. The inside of the caves have paths and lighting, in spots it's a bit dark so bringing a light could help but not mandatory. There are guides available, I think it's best to hire one since they know more of the history and points of interest. You certainly could make it in and out without a guide, though (but why? the guides are not crazy expensive).

Departing from Los Naranjos, we visited the cave. The goal was an extreme tour. The cave alone is not worth it. Inside built a concrete road, lit with colorful lights like a circus. Unfortunately there was no guide so only the circus part remained which was not worth the trip. Just another cave and nothing special. The guides don't seem to need a job and they don't need the money. The staff called up a guide but the guide showed no particular interest in the work so he didn't take us on an extreme tour.

A lovely cave system about 20 minutes south of the lake (or nearly 1 hour, albeit scenic, from D&D Brewery). I love visiting these caves when heading south--especially since it's only $4 for foreigners. There's an "extreme tour" at the end which is good but very muddy. All in all a great way to spend your day...especially if it's raining outside.

The location is perfect, too--a stone's throw away from the main CA-5 north/south highway.

Very cool caves! The first 300 meters of the cave are well lit with paths and railings. For those looking for more of an adventure, try the extreme tour for an extra fee. You are given a helmet and flashlight since this part is not lit. Can be slippery and muddy but in my opinion this is the part that made it worth the trip there. A guide comes with you, but remember they work for tips and are very knowledgable and helpful.

Cool caves with neat formations. A little easy to miss as it is literally right on the highway. You can pay for a guide or walk them yourself.

The power was out (it happens) so they gave me a flashlight and in I went. I'm so glad I did. The experience was wonderful. I'm sure it would be nice with lights, but this was thrilling and a little scary. I was abuzz the whole day.

It was reasonably priced and was easy to walk through. It was difficult to take pictures in some places. I suggest good soled shoes because it is damp and can be slippery in some spots.
