Enjoy spectacular views from the cupola while seeing how the Hobson family lived at Bowling Green’s historic house museum, Riverview at Hobson Grove. Built by Atwood and Juliet VanMeter Hobson on a hill overlooking the Barren River, this historic landmark has been restored to its original splendor and is listed on the National Register. An official site on the Civil War Discovery Trail, the house was used for storage of Confederate munitions when the Rebel forces held Bowling Green. Riverview is an elegant interpretation of a prosperous Victorian home of the 1860 to 1890 period and invites visitors to experience the life of a 19th century family and their servants.

I've been to Riverview a few times. It's always the same yet I learn something new. I love to look out the front door across Bowling Green and imagine what it was like many years ago.

Nothing to say as the are closed on Mondays and that's the only day we were in town. We did take a few pictures of the exterior but that's it. The park and surrounding grounds were well maintained. Just wish we could have done the interior tour.

Ladies and Gentlemen you will certainly be entertained by a tour through the antibellium home Riverview located at Hobson Grove. If you are new to the area you will be able to imagine the expanse of the property as your tour guide tells you that Riverview was a wedding present. For those who are visiting the area you will find... More

Whether local or visitor to the area, this is a must see. You won't be disappointed. In depth history of location and the family who lived here. Docents are very informative.

My family and I love historic homes, and we make a special point of finding venues offering interesting Halloween activities when October rolls around. While we have been priviliged to tour Riverview several times over the years, we have never enjoyed any of our visits more than the Vintage Halloween event this past weekend. Our evening began as we walked... More

Very lovely mansion restored and furnished. It is amazing how many family photos and portraits they were able to find and reclaim in the restoration. Very friendly and informative staff. Even the guys in our group enjoyed the tour!

If you like old house tours, this is a good one. You get to see almost all of the house, plus learn about its history. Our tour guide was fantastic, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. We had some issues finding the place, but it was worth it once we did.

Up on a hill in Bowling Green sits this gem. The history is as interesting as the tour itself. The building was saved from destruction during the Civil War and then saved again from demolition by the local golf club. It is well worth a visit.

Hello, I appreciate the fact that you took the time to review Riverview and thought I'd let you know exactly where the Barren River is located. I'm sorry this wasn't covered in your tour. When the family moved into the house in 1872, after the Civil War, Mrs. Hobson called the house "Riverview" because she could see the river from... More
