Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We happened to be visiting just after the floods and decided to pop into this town. Sadly I think it was too soon as not much happening.

Such a realistic painting of Ron Iddle. Is a very special tribute to him that gives justice to him in its presentation.

I was blown away by this little lane hidden away in the main street of Rochester. I have read Ron Iddles' book, heard him talk and listened to his podcasts. It is great recognition of a fantastic career and I was excited to learn more about him. The artwork is incredible and is done in such a clever way. Highly recommend to any true crime fans!

As an avid true crime fan, I loved stopping off in Rochester on the way to Echuca to view Iddles Lane. The mural is fantastic and tells the story of Ron Iddles, former Victorian homicide detective. I've grown to love Ron through many true crime podcasts and TV shows and seeing the mural and learning more about his story was something fun and different to do. Highly recommend stopping in Rochester when you are next travelling through.

Just happened upon the Iddles Lane and was gob smacked to see the quality and detail in the mural. Being a Ron Iddles fan, I was pleased to read about his background. A hero rightfully honoured.

This laneway is here to recognise the contribution of a local family who had a dairy farm in the area ... the family was very involved in the local community. So while the laneway first appears to be all about Ron... it tells the whole story. Ron had a twin brother and an older sister.

So let's start with Ron, after all this is your initial focus in the laneway... he investigated 320 homicides with a success rate of 99%. His role, he believed, was to give his victim a voice. Ron believed in assuming nothing, believing nothing and checking everything. He always thought he was an average guy doing a difficult job. Just reading about the man incites a great deal of respect for him.

So for a moment, let's dwell on the twins... they were born in Rochester War Memorial Hospital in 1955 - March 10. The staff nicknamed them Piddles and Widdles. When they grew up... Barry wanted to be a Chef and Ron wanted to be a Detective. Like his brother, Barry was a success. Barry was the Victorian Apprentice of the Year in 1975, winning the prestigious Australian Wine and Food Society Chef title in 1985. He cooked for Janet Holmes A Court, Michael Jackson, Cilla Black, Bob Hawke, Peter Allen and he also made Kylie Minogue's 30th birthday cake.

At the end of the laneway there is a tribute to the family as boot makers in the community as well. The family was a huge part of this community. If you do nothing else in Rochester- this is a must see!
