Learned a lot about weaving and green living, we stayed overnight we had a very nice house all to ourselves, lovely cinnamon rolls and breakfast food provided as well as a homemade lunch family style with the Sisters. The straw building for various crafts was neat, we had a great teacher. Don't miss the gift shop. I'm headed back to... More

Go to Heartland Farm!! Wonderful varieties of chickens, gentle alpacas, a couple of straw bale buildings, excellent accommodations and a quiet exposure in a sustainable farm. Both children and adults will love this unique experience. Mary McFarland

I very much enjoyed staying at the Hermitage and having extended time to pray and reflect, to wander in the woods and walk the labyrinth. It was a beautiful retreat to embrace solitude and rekindle the joy of being with my Savior. The sisters were very welcoming and allowed me to participate in their Morning Prayers and even let me... I wonderful place to get away and be with nature. To commune with the Divine in a place of respite, labor, love and food for body, mind and soul. See their new straw-bale building for weaving, pottery, retreats, reading, planting, etc...use the composting toilet, get in touch with living "one" with the earth and all its abundance. See the working... More

Love Heartland farms. Alpacas, peaceful. Great place for a retreat. Wheat building. Run by the local nuns. They even have small houses to rent to stay.

A real working farm with all the comforts. Welcoming people, great food, (incredible eggs...) and the peace of the heartland. And the cost is remarkable.

Visiting the Sisters of Heartland Farm was definitely a great experience to see how to live in a less disruptive manner, or more earth and eco-friendly. There are lots of workshops here, I'd recommend going to them. Being away from all the city-life was wonderful, in company of a lot of flora and fauna. I went with a friend but... More

Went to this farm with a bunch of my friends and we all loved it! Reserve a whole day to do it, because there's so much to do! They sell burgers and hotdogs at the end of the apple picking and popcorn and egg rolls where you pick up pumpkins and berries. There's a huge maze, oh and also, safe... More

My husband and I stayed at the Hermitage House over the weekend. We came for the experience of staying in a straw bale structure but came away with more. The sisters were wonderful. As other reviewers have stated, it is simple and comfortable and great way to connect with nature. I would recommend Heartland Farm for family's wanting to spend... More

Heartland Farm is a great place to "get lost." Going "off grid" is possible there if desired. With no city lights nearby, one can view the night sky without problem. The staff are very accomodating, providing home-cooked meals with much of the food raised on-site. The hermitage gives one a chance to simply "be" and enjoy the wildlife and fauna.... More
