Few miles west of Dodge City, this makes a perfect backdrop for a picture. Sadly we were outrunning a storm on our bikes, so just got a quick look as we rode by.

We never saw so many cattle waiting to be slaughtered. Interesting how many feedlots there were in the area.

This was a nice stop along the Highway. But I must say that it you miss the overlook you haven't really missed anything fantastic. It was great to get out and stretch our legs and we did take pictures.

From this lookout, you can see the full breadth of cattle yards where cattle stay for a short period to be fattened up before slaughter (i think the figure is a million head a year). There are literally thousands of them. Depending on wind direction,...More

You have to read the reviews! My faith in the average citizen's sense of humor is restored. I have always admired the cowboy's statue across the road from the overlook, but never had any real desire to stop and smell the excrement. I object less...More

Believe me, this is by far and away the best cattle overlook I have ever seen in my life and I've seen them ALL, from the huge holding lots of Omaha, down to Fort Worth, from Fresno to Calgary, and all points in between. If...More

The map pin for this "attraction" is off by MILES! The correct coordinates are N 37.752512, W 009.960662. (BTW, avoid visiting on days when there's a strong wind from the south or southeast... just sayin'...)

Hard to miss this, driving into town from the east. Very striking, silhouetted against the sky. Made us feel we'd finally left the Midwest. The view? Well, seen one feedlot, you've seen them all, I reckon.
