Interesting piece of history

A lot of good information to read along the path. The tracks are a bit difficult to see, but it's worth a visit.

You can still see some of the wagon tracks and when you are looking across the expanse of blowing grass you can imagine what it may have been like to head off across in the country with a covered wagon or just your horse.

Visited with my 81 year old mother. Used wheelchair in order for her to see this amazing part of history. Excellently maintained. Just imagine what it must have been like for our forefathers and mothers to have crossed the country by way of this trail. Beautiful view of the surrounding fields!

Went by a little early in the morning, perhaps. Very difficult to see the ruts, but some could be made out a little farther away. Still, great to stand in a place where so many people passed by. Good view of the plains from this bluff.

You may as well stop and have a look. Wonderful scenary goes on for miles giving you an apreciation of the vastness of the planes. Good history notes on exhibits.

Located approx. nine miles west of town, these ruts are a good reminder of the thousands who braved horrific conditions to follow their dream. Time & Mother Nature have taken their toll and it is rather difficult to make them out, but, use a little imagination and they will be easy to see. On a note of caution, There is... More

It takes a little gazing to really see the ruts. Unlike television and the movies, the wagons did not travel single file. The ruts show broad cuts into the prairie. One couple that was there at the same time looked at the two rut maintenance road at the back and declared they had found the trail. They even took a... More

You really have to put yourself back to when the pioneers took their wagons through here. There are a few visible signs and it's worth the walk out to it.

I found it very interesting to read about the history of the tracks and the cattle drives .It was very difficult to see the actual trail.

Nice facility but hard to see the tracks. There are places in Kansas that are better, but harder to get to. For example drive the dirt roads to see the ones near Pawnee Rocks. A little harder to get to but better ruts
