Great roadside attraction, this was a planned part of our trip across country and we arrived on Friday night, wish we could have stayed longer. People in town were extremely friendly and welcoming.

This was a 'must-see' on an exploratory tour of Kansas. I must say that there seems to be a healthy competition between Iowa and Kansas for the world's largest 'whatever'--- popcorn balls, frying pans, and balls of string. Seeing this had my stomach tied in...More

The site's volunteers were on the ball. Seeing Cawker City's Ball of Twine was lots of fun, and a great way to wrap up part of our trip!

How can you not love the old classic roadside attractions. Yes it's a big ball of twine that might not impress technology driven teens. But it's great. A lady came by and let us add more twine to the ball, she took out photo, and...More

Stopped in Cawker City to see this American piece of workmanship. Friendly locals were available to explain the history of the ball.

This little stop was so well maintained and clean. Nobody came outside to offer us twine to add, but since it was 110+degrees outside, I don't blame them at all! I'm glad we stopped.

Easily accessible site in a quaint location. Gas station with well cared for glass pumps is across the street. I wish we had been there in August for the twine a thon when more twine is added to this already ginormous ball of twine.

Roadside Americana at it's finest. How often do you get to see a giant ball of twine, let alone the World's Largest Ball of Sisal Twine? I made a loop up from I-70 to see this and Rock City outside of Minneapolis. It was well...More

The only thing that would ever get you to Cawker City is the world's largest ball of sisal twine. While it took us and hour or so to drive there from Salina, Kansas, it was worth the trip just to do it. There is no...More
