Last June we headed on down to Oklahoma to pick up a trailer and I decided to cut across country and get off the interstate. Our detour took us through Cancer City. While viewing the incredible Ball of Twine ( I loved it ) across the street is was a beautiful restored filling station. Talk about cool. So as we... More

Traveling I-70 west thru Kansas, you can detour up to US 24 at Salina, then go west on US 24 to Cawker City. The ball resides right on US 24 in the center of a quiet little town and following US 24 west only adds about 40 minutes to your total trip.

Too cool. We drive a lot of backroads and just happened upon this attraction. It was a great surprise and just a lot of fun, especially talking to the few tourists there. Lots of laughs. We got lucky and got to add twine onto the ball.

Okay, so it's weird, but it's really fun and the lady was so sweet. We stopped here because we were going through the area from the Geographic Center in Lebanon to the Eisenhower library and this was on the way. My husband was disappointed that it wasn't bigger, but it's twine, so how big can it be? lol We got... More

We found this on Google for fun things to see while driving through Kansas (we are on our way to Estes Park). We loved that we stopped here (08/15 visit)! A couple of very nice local ladies stopped by while we were there to stop and chat. They even brought some pre-measured twine (to keep track of the weight and... More

Interesting little roadside stop to get out and stretch the legs. No facilities, have to look elsewhere for a restroom. Neat little old gas station across the street.

Wife and I decided to go on a road trip to the contiguous center of US and the ball of twine was on the way there. So we decided to stop by and check it out. The ball is huge! It is in the middle of no where but we had a great time taking photos next to it.

Go see the Biggest Ball of Twine. It's something to see and you can say you saw it! If you're into American Oddities then you should go. Not much to see or do on Cawker City, but is is full of history.

How can you not want to see and touch and even add to the World's Largest Ball of Sisal Twine? Just too odd for words in a charming offbeat Central Kansas town.
