This is so worth the drive to see Bison out on the prairie. I took my two teenage children and we all enjoyed the tram ride and tour guide information. I would highly recommend. You need to call ahead for reservations.

Be sure to call ahead and arrange a tour. The tours are run by a volunteer staff so it is best to plan several days in advance of going. There is a gravel, country road that runs thru a portion of the refuge but seeing...More

Wonderful heard of managed buffalo. Tours by appointment, and great for group outings. They have an annual buffalo auction. There is a very nice little tour center with some historic items and select gifts. Donations or membership in Friends of Maxwell is encouraged. I visit...More

I have been here a lot on their trail rides. The views are amazing and you get to see buffalo and elk in their environment. The lunch has always been with buffalo meat. Always good. They have trams also that go out for a close...More
