Really recommend Huay Tung Tao Lake. It's not a touristic place and you can relax in one of the booths, swim, have lunch or drink something. Be warned that the booths are not free, they're from the restaurants and you have to eat something to...More

If you want to have a quiet, authentic, low-key day Trip in Chiang Mai, this is the spot. It’s a short 15-20 minute drive to the lake. You can then walk or drive around the lake, where you’ll find 100+ private, personal huts that actually...More

We started our cycling tour with Intrepid at lake Huay Tung Tao. It's a beautiful lake. Unfortunately they were resurfacing the road and we could not ride our bikes all around the lake, but it is a beautiful area.

Not too far from Chiang mai, and is such a relaxing place to grab lunch and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the lake.

It’s an amazing place to check out. We came on a scooter and drove around the lake, stopped at a place for lunch. Food was okay but the atmosphere was great.

It costs about 160b to go here by Grab and 50b per person entrance. The taxi will probably drop you near the toilet area, you will then have to ask around about the straw hut occupancy or just walk inside one and see what happens....More

We followed friends using a motor bike. This is a lake formed by a dam. We arrived early and took a bamboo hut on the shoreline over the water that provided shade and a table to order food from the local vendor. People swam but...More

I've been several times and chosen not to swim, as I don't know what's in the water. As the other poster said, locals quite happily swim there.

Contrary to the above, it can be popular but it is never "very crowded." I go here twice a week.
