You'll love the statue outside and look up to see the words from The Music Man surrounding the building. Docents will walk you down Main Street and show you the museum with so many musical instruments (76 Trombones) on display and memorabilia of early Mason...More

Used to be that the streetscape was free, and an admission was charged for the boyhood home and museum portion. Sign still states that in the front, and NO one up front to tell you that, until you've been in the place for a while......More

If you liked The Music Man you will love the museum which contains store fronts from the set of the movie. Their collection of musical instuments was excellent.

A lot of interesting items from the movie Music Man. A guide will show you through if you want but we elected to walk at our own pace.

We love the Music Man. Have seen the play done in various venues, have seen the movie a few times, but have never been to Mason City until now. Getting oriented to find this location is a bit strange. We started from the shopping mall...More

Someone put a lot of time and effort into this to make you feel like you were in "River City" of the Music Man musical, based on Mason City. Author of musical born here. Needed more activity. Recommend watching movie again before going.

I would love to see the history of the music man, but it was closed. I wish they would open a little early in the morning around 10 or 10:30 am. I wasn't able to wait 3 hours for it to open. 😔
