Spent the afternoon here. Biked for several miles, then walked about 5 around by the dam. Beautiful area. Wished we would have packed some lunch...not thinking. Lots of trails. Much love.

The lake is huge so you can do a lot of water sports from boating, tubing, kiaking to name a few. Since those activities are too much for me I do the land activities with my family...my son and husband enjoy their bike trail and I follow them by walking. I prefer to walk because I take a lot of... More

Very beautiful area. The campgrounds look wonderful and the spaces are further apart than many campsites. We went to do some hiking though and found that there are very few natural (non-paved) hiking trails. Such a beautiful area, it would be nice if there were more hiking trails around the lake.

Lovely lake. Be sure to check out the tower on the north shore. Also, check out the parking areas below the dam. There are always birds to see there. Depending on the season, you may see bald eagles, pelicans, sea gulls, or many others.

My grandpa used to take me to Red Rock to fish when I was a kid, so I'm a bit nostalgic about this place. I recently came back with my husband's and two sons, and we had a great time. We visited the visitor center first, to see what was new, and found out that there are different kits (mostly... More

Largest lake in Iowa. Campgrounds are clean and well maintained. Friendly staff. Shower room and toilets clean. Great pressure in showers. Firewood available for purchase, $5. Trails were closed due to flooding. Lots of construction on the dam. Fun to watch for a bit. We would definitely return.

It is currently under construction. When it is up and running it is awesome. It is a great kids spot and a great fishing spot.
