Nature area with a numbered fossil walk! Basic fossils like crinoids embedded in the rocks. Would be great for elementary school children.

If you were lucky enough to visit right after the flood, it would have been memorable. Today it is just a skeleton. People have taken away much of the fossils as this site is unsupervised. Still you can visit and hike around, visit Sugarbottom beach,...More

It doesn't talk long to see the gorge and many can walk down to it. It's worth it for a little insight into the geology of Iowa.

PROS: 350 million year old sea bed! Aquatic fossils embedded in the rocks; the fossils are all easy to find; the available brochure helps you find specific fossils. Great 1-2 hour activity for the whole family. CONS: none . great attraction for Iowa City/Coralville

Had a wonderful time with my daughter on visit. Many different fossils to discover. Very nice sitting area available. Great way to spend an afternoon. Many different activities to do while at the park.
