You can drive through the mines of Spain and not see much. Park at the Horseshoe trail head and take a short, up hill walk to the north (go left from the parking lot) for one of the most amazing views in the tri states.

We spent an evening taking a couple short hikes in the park. They trails were pleasant and we got to see a lot of wildlife, including a pair of deer. The views of the river and Dubuque to the north were wonderful.

This was a farm 30 or 40 years ago. The best thing I like is fishing and canoeing. The kids may like trails and nature center. If you like to hike and bike I would do heritage trail, from Dubuque to Graf I enjoyed it...More

Beautiful park well worth hiking in. My family (with kids aged 6, 4 and 2) loved it, as it had such different areas to walk in: some rockier faces, a woody trail, a marsh trail (in which we saw nature in action: a snake eating...More

I was impressed by the number of quality hiking trails. Very easy to get to from Dubuque. Plenty of parking and a range of trails to hike.

Awesome park to have in Dubuque. Lots of trails to hike with good variety. You'll see a lot of people there on weekend afternoons, but even then you can find empty trails if you know where to look; hike out to the south end on...More

Enjoyed our visit to this park. Beautiful views of the river & the city of DBQ. Hiking trails take you deep into the woods where it is quiet & lushly green. Unfortunately, inadequate funding from the state means some of the trails are not being...More

We only spent a short time here and got the lay of the land. Will certainly be back to hike and explore. Advise having insect repellant.

The beautiful woodland park is just south of Dubuque, but worth a quick visit if you have time and a car. The view over the Mississippi is wonderful. The simple memorial to Julian Dubuque, the first European to arrive in this area, is sadly somewhat...More

The park hours are uncertain, because we rely on volunteers and can not get adequate funding from the State of Iowa. We do have outside cooking facilities through out the park but I do not know if barbecue is referring to a... More
