Great art to see. Grant Wood is always on display. If you're looking for a specific piece you should call ahead because their collection travels. More than Grant Wood to see. Check out their website as the exhibits change as does the display of their permanent collection. The building has a great feel and it's fun to experience art in... More

The museum was small but good. The room with Wood's painting had several paintings that were not identified. It had a photo exhibit while we were there which was good.

On April 7, 2016 I made my second visit to the museum. I found the staff very friendly on both visits. There are two levels to the building. Theres a Grant Wood section on the second floor. Some art on the second floor changes every few months. This visit student art was highlighted in the left gallery. I found some... More

The building itself is interesting, with 2 levels on which the art is displayed. There are a few Grant Woods in the collection, and neat display areas for temporary displays. Free on certain days of the week. Nice, easily manageable museum.

When you consider the size of the city of Dubuque, a world class Museum of Art is a very pleasant surprise. The building is beautiful in design and well maintained. The exhibits are well presented and change on a regular basis. I have found some absolutely lovely and unique items in the gift shop as well. I love it so... More

The Dubuque Museum of Art hosts a variety of exhibitions in a bright and accessible location in the downtown area. Staff are very knowledgeable, and offer a range of supplemental art courses and lectures. One of my favorites is the dramatizations of famous artists by talented actors, conducted in an interview style and supplemented by slides of the individual's family,... More

This is probably the smallest city art museum I've ever been to, but the small exhibits were very well done. The realistic sculpture exhibit was excellent to the point of being creepy because the sculptures are so life-like. The curator is skilled and has done the best with what small collection they have. We got through the entire museum in... More

Really nice small art museum. This place makes the art accessible to everyone. All the explanations are clear, interesting and informative. No presuming that everyone who visits is an art history major. Being from Chicago and visiting the Art Institute often, I really enjoyed the Grant Wood exhibit and learned a bunch about him and his work. There were two... More
