One of the best state museums we've ever visited. Lot larger than I thought. Wish we'd allowed more time. The tiered plaza-gardens outside are great, too.

It is worth the time, the money, and a family event. Place is spotless. The gift shop has lots of little gift ideas. Supported by lots of IOWANS.

We were particularly interested in the civil war history and were not disappointed. Enjoyed the Iowa 101 exhibit as well. Only partial day visit, so we'll be back for more

Went with my history loving daughter over break,. They had some interesting items and I learned a lot about Iowa that I did not know. I highly recommend anyone to visit. It isn't a huge museum and appropriate for all ages.

I would like to rate it a five instead of four, but the budget is low for upkeep. Which doesn't mean either the staff nor legislators are shirking their duties. Roof leaks in places, and this must be fixed to protect Iowa's treasures. So much...More

First of all, it is easy to get to and is free. There are not a lot of exhibits, but I found several new pieces of information. A lot of space goes to Iowans in entertainment and RAGBRAI, but the civil war section was well...More
