Great outing for all ages and on bad weather days. Wanted to try the restaurant since family that live in the area said it was great for lunch but timing did not work so will try it next time we are in town. Highly recommend.

the Botanical Center or Garden is a great place to visit. There is an admission fee but reasonable. The inside garden is beautiful and changes often. There are pathways to wander while taking your time to relax and 'smell the flowers' so to speak. There is the sound of water, a bridge to cross, high and low areas to explore... More

I love going to the Des Moines Botanical Center because I can always count on having a delicious & nutritious meal & I know I will see plants that are new & interesting to me! I try to learn a new plant name every time I go!

Went here with my boyfriend a few weekends ago, and we loved it!! Such a coastal/tropical feel and so many beautiful plants (we both LOVE plants)!! A great way to spend part of the day because of the long walk (and its very relaxing). Would be a great place to take kids as well. Recommend!

We have been several times to the Botanical Center over the past ten years and have even had annual memberships for some years. The facility is small but very well kept. The flora variety is interesting but not terribly unique. Years ago there were birds, turtles and koi but they no longer house any fauna which is disappointing. The price... More

This is a small botanic garden and I wouldn't say there was anything wrong with it, however, it was just ok. It was a bit tricky to get to and we visited on a chilly early spring day. There was lots of greenery but not too many flowering plants. All of the visitors seemed to be enjoying themselves. It just... More

Regardless of the weather, you will breathe fresh warm air and see beautiful color at the Botanical Garden. Stay for lunch at the yummy Trellis cafe. I love the soup and green apple ginseng tea.

Each time we're in Des Moines we take a trip here. The indoor portion has seasonal plants which change each time we come. The outdoors is beautiful - right on the water and with a beautiful place for outdoor gatherings. The cafe, Trellis, is a must-do for lunch.
